What is the dosage and how should it be used?

Chlorothiazide comes in tablet and liquid form which is to be taken orally. It is usually taken once or twice a day. If you are to take it once a day, take it in the morning, and if you are to take it twice a day, take it in the morning and in the late afternoon to avoid going to the bathroom during the night.

Take this medication exactly as it was prescribed to you. Do not take the medication in larger amounts, or take it for longer than recommended by your doctor.

To be sure this medication is not causing harmful effects, your blood will need to be tested on a regular basis. It is important that you not miss any scheduled visits to your doctor.

Chlorothiazide can interfere with the results of a thyroid test. Tell any doctor who treats you that you are using a thiazide diuretic.

Additionally, if you are being treated for high blood pressure, keep using this medication even if you feel fine. High blood pressure often has no symptoms.
